Coin Through The Table
Effect: A quarter or a half-dollar is tapped on the table a few times, laid down and covered by the performer's hand.
Mysteriously the coin has gone through the table and has fallen into the performer's other hand.
Secret: Begin with the coin lying about a foot from the edge of the table. Slide the coin all the way off the edge of
the table to pick it up. Tap the coin on the table a few times, hold the coin in the palm of your hand and slap the coin
on the table covering it with your hand. Tell the spectators that you are going to push the coin through the table and
pretend to try as hard as you can. Uncover the coin saying it must not have worked, and tell them you will attempt to
do it again. This time when you slide the coin off the edge of the table, drop it into your left hand. Reach under the
table with the coin in your left hand and hit the coin on the bottom of the table as you pretend to slap the coin on the
tabletop with your right hand. Pretend to push it through the table again, lift your hand and bring the coin out from
under the table.

Multiplying Bills
Effect: A borrowed bill is held openly in hands, both sleeves are rolled up and hands are shown to be empty
separately. Hands are brought together and the borrowed bill is fanned out into ten or more bills, multiplying before
the eyes.
Secret: Tightly roll several bills into a small tube and wrap it a few times with a piece of thread before the
presentation. You must be wearing some kind of loose long sleeves, place the roll of bills in the crease in your left
elbow, using the folds of your sleeve and the bend of your arm to conceal it.
Presentation: Borrow a bill and hold it in your right hand, showing your left hand to be empty, and push your right
sleeve up. Pass the bill to your left hand and show that your right hand is empty. Push your sleeve on your left arm
up and secretly palm the roll of bills in you right hand. Immediately bring both hands together and slowly spread
your hands apart, unrolling the bills and fanning them out. This is a version of the Multiple Bill Production that
requires a little more skill and hand sleight.

Thought Card - Found ! david blaine
David approaches a passer-by and asks that they hold a pack of cards and to merely think of any
card that is in the pack.
"Are you thinking of one ?" - "Not the Ace of Spades ! " - "Think of another ."
"OK - got one ? - Yes ? - OK, I want you to visualise your card turning around, can you do that ?"
"What's the name of your card ?"
The spectators announces his 'Thought card' - "The 5 of Diamonds".
David takes the pack from the spectator and removes the deck - fanning the cards face up he comes
to one face down card.
"What was your thought card ?" asks David again.
"The 5 of Diamonds" replies the spectator.
The spectator takes the face down card and turns it over - it is the 5 of Diamonds !!

David Blaine
A special deck of cards known as an Invisible Deck.
In this deck the cards all have 'roughing fluid' applied to their backs.
There are various set ups but the cards are generally arrange in 'pairs'
eg; back to back, face-up face-down, red to black and odd to even, the value of the pairs making a
total of 13.
There is more to it than this but this gives you the gist of this gaffed deck.
What the magician must do is to memorise the combinations and pairs so that he is able to locate
the 'pair' of the 'Thought card'. He must also remove the deck from the box so that the 'thought
card' is face down (half the deck will also be face down with their paired cards).
Sounds complicated but it is relatively easy once learned.
As the cards are being fanned a squeezing pressure must be applied and maintained to the deck so
that the back to back 'pairs' do not separate.
Once the 'pair' to the thought card is located the pressure is released and the face down 'Thought
card' is pushed forward.

The Changing Card
The basis of this card trick is Alex Elmsley's classic 'Between the Palms' .
Aldo Columbini also has a fine variation (more complex, but beautiful) please seek it out and try it.
Effect:
A selected card placed between the spectators palms magically changes into a different card !
Working:
Have the assistant select a card and replace it in the deck. Control the card to the top, now Double
Lift the top two cards.
Show the face card announcing that this isn't their card "This isn't your card - is it ?", the answer
should be "No".
Slight distraction:
Ask your assistant to hold out a hand. Which ever hand they hold out say "Not that one, this one."
and lift up their other hand ! (smile as you do it).
While that little byplay was taking place you should have replaced the Double on the top of the
deck.

Now push the top card over with your thumb and place it on the outstretched palm in front of you,
ask your assistant to cover the card with their other hand.
After a couple of attempts to find their card in the deck - and failing !, ask what their card was....
make a 'magical' pass over their hands and ask them to look at the card they hold.
They should be suitably surprised to find that they are now holding the selected card.
Don't forget to use suitable patter (a' la Blaine) "Can I show you something that transcends the
mind ?"

Voodoo Spirit Writing best trick ever
A willing volunteer selects and removes a card from a fanned deck, it is memorised before being
returned, the deck is then shuffled by the volunteer.
The magician remarks that he can sense the presence of a Voodoo spirit in the room and will
endeavour to use this spirit to locate the chosen card !
"I'm going to try something, I've never done this before, It's bizarre"
The deck is then placed on a table, a piece of blank green paper is folded and momentarily placed
on top of the deck.
The magician continues to build up the voodoo atmosphere by asking the volunteer to hold the
paper to his forehead and to visualise his chosen card. The magician then takes the paper and sets
fire to it with the cigarette lighter. The flaming paper is held over the magicians hand and allowed
to burn as he mumbles some barely audible magical words, the flame is then carefully blown out.
The magician now places the ash of the burnt paper onto his forearm. The ash is slowly rubbed
onto the skin.....
the name of the selected card now appears on the magicians forearm ! WHOOOOOO !!! , spooky
or what ? ;-)
Preparation.
In advance of performing this trick you must write the name of a card on your left forearm with
soft wet soap, (say the 3 Diamonds) It is best just to draw the symbol of the suit rather than the
word, you will also need to experiment with different soaps and with the amount of time you can
allow before the soap dries and won't stick to the ash !
A piece of 'spooky' green paper, about 3 x 3 inches. Coloured paper is best as it produces a black
ash.
You will also need a cigarette lighter in your right hand pocket.

The Un-Dead ! devid blaine
"Let me show you something strange", "It's bizarre !"
He reaches towards a car windscreen and removes a dead fly... holding it carefully on the palm of
his hand he shows that the fly is indeed dead. The performer asks the passer-bye to cup his hands
around the fly, after a moment or two the fly comes to life and flies off............. SHREEEEEK !!!
Preparation.
Now, you are going to need a supply of Bluebottles for this, I suggest you make this a summer trick
as there will be a ready supply of Bluebottle maggots at your local fishing tackle shop. The maggots
can be encouraged to pupate at different intervals by keeping them at different temperatures.
Alternatively you could try swatting one, but in my experience they don't take too kindly to this
sort of treatment !!
Take a pupating maggot in small glass jar (easier to keep an eye on it), when a fly emerges, place it
in the freezer compartment of your fridge for about 15 minutes, this should send it into a comatose
state, ready for your performance.
You will need to check the revival time so that it coincides with your performance, the general
consensus of opinion is 10 minutes.
Performance hints...
You might also try cupping your hands around the helpers hands and breath into their hands, the
extra warmth will encourage a speedier fly revival !!
Note: If the helper doesn't want to hold the fly - have them cup their hands around yours. This
great party trick so long as no one spots your bottled fly in the fridge !

Two Card Monte (david blaine) revealed
EFFECT:
Two Red Aces placed between a spectators fingers are 'switched' then 'switched back'.
The assistant turns the cards over to reveal two Black Queens !!!
The Set Up
At the top of the deck have the two Red Aces on top of two Black Queens.
Working.
Have an assistant make an upright fist, take the first Red Ace (showing it first) put it between the
first and second fingers (where it remains). Now take the second Red Ace (also showing it) quickly
stab it in and out of the two fingers (above the first Ace), saying "I just switched them", [you
haven't] quickly push the Ace in and out again now saying "Now I've switched them back" [you
haven't] Saying "I'll show you what I did", slowly demonstrate, this time you slowly and
deliberately exchange the two cards (one for the other) twice. Adding your own bit of patter, eg;
"Which do you think is on top ? Ace of Hearts or Ace of Diamonds ?".
Once done, ask your assistant to examine the faces of the two cards (Red Aces).
Repeat the fast 'switch move' ONCE - without the slow exchange, then ask the assistant which card
they think they are holding, pause, then ask them to look at the card (Red Ace) .

While they are answering and looking, hold your hands low (still looking at the assistant) and slip
the Red Ace you are holding to the bottom of the deck and take the first Black Queen from the top.
You are now ready for the next step.
Repeat the 'switch move' ONCE - with the slow exchange, this time actually exchanging the Black
Queen for the Ace held by the assistant. Now ask the assistant "Without Looking - which card are
you holding" - as they are now holding a Black Queen. While they are answering slip the Ace you
are holding to the bottom of the deck and take the second Black Queen from the top. Say again
"I'll show you again what I did "
Repeat the Double 'switch move' completely as described in the first paragraph.
Demonstrating how you switched the two cards, now they are left holding two Black Queens in
their hands.
Ask again "Which card do you think is on top now ?".
With a bit of by-play re-enforce the idea that they are holding Aces-Hearts/Diamonds.
Now for the crunch...
Ask your assistant to examine the two cards, revealing - Two Black Queens !!!

Note Book With Real Notes
You can make a note book - with
real $ notes!
Put this together in the same shape as a standard check book. Cut your back and
front covers from thin, colored card and use cloth tape; seal the closed end.
Put the back cover on your table, and then apply a small amount of rubber
cement to the underside of the left edge of the first note. Press the note in place,
parallel, but slightly to the right of the left edge of the back cover. Press the edge
of the note down on the back cover.
Do the same with as many notes as you want to use in the book. If you decide to
put some paper pieces under the notes to make the book look thicker, make sure
that they are the same color and, of course, the same thickness and size as the
real notes that you use.
You don't glue the edge of the front cover to the top note because you would not
be able to tear out the note cleanly. Join the front and back covers with a strip of
cloth tape, leaving enough loose tape between them so that it's easy for you to
get at the stack of glued notes inside.
When you are with some friends and want to surprise them, take out your book
of notes.
Hold the top right corner of each note as you tear (actually lift it) from the stack.
If you rub your fingernail against the next note in the stack as you tear the top
note out, you will get a reasonable imitation of the sound you hear when you tear
a check from your check book.
You could say something like," I love these new note-books" as you show the
book around. Then say, "and I don't pay any charges like you do with checks!"

Bill Roll
Bill Roll
You will not impress anyone by
pulling out a bag or a roll of coins to
pay a bill. But you get instant
attention if you pull your dollar bills
off a thick roll!
You just need some currency that looks new, rubber cement ("the magician's
friend!") and some pieces of paper that you cut to the same width as the money.
You start to assemble your roll of bills by gluing the edges of the pieces of
ordinary paper with any glue that dries clear to make a continuous strip. You use
these in the center so that your "money roll" looks fairly thick and more
impressive.
Then you apply rubber cement to the very edge of your first note and press it
against the end of your roll of paper pieces. Do this in turn with each note. Let
the cement on each note dry completely before you put the next in place so that
they do not all stick together in a lump when you roll them up.
The rubber cement should ensure that you can remove the notes easily when you
need to.

Beware the BLURT!
Beware the BLURT!
Collect these props to create
your own B*L*U*R*T:
a medium sized envelope,
a piece of strong wire,
a large, thin rubber band and
a piece of strong cardboard that is
about half an inch square.
If you have not bent and cut wire before, get help from someone who has.
Always be careful. Learn how to do things safely the first time.
Make a semi-circle of wire to fit comfortably in the envelope; the width should
be about one inch less than the envelope and the depth about one inch less than
the height of the envelope. Use your pliers to bend over the ends of the wire.
Your rubber band needs to be slightly shorter than the distance between the two
ends of the wire semi-circle.
Draw a line on the piece of card across its center and mark two spots on the line,
an equal distance from each side. Punch two holes on the marks. Thread your
rubber band through the two holes and hook the band over the bent ends of the
wire.
Now you print in large, colorful letters on the front of the envelope,
DANGER
BEWARE THE BLURT
Turn the piece of card as many times as you can so the rubber band is tightly
twisted. Slip the wire and band in your envelope and fold the envelope flap
inside.
Don't seal the envelope so that you can re-use your BLURT for years!
Leave the envelope where a curious friend or family member will see it when
you don't seem to be about. They will be curious; open the envelope and you'll
hear the "BLU-R-R-R-T"!
This might upset whoever opens the envelope. Never do it to anyone who is old,
frail or very nervous. Most other people will want to help you use the Blurt to
catch someone else!

Scarf Juggling
Scarf Juggling
This is real juggling but even the
clumsiest of us (that's me) can do it
in a fairly short time.
You need 3 colorful, thin nylon squares to start. Hold one in one hand and two in
the other. Toss one of those two a couple of feet in the air and then toss the
single square from your other hand directly across to the hand that launched the
first square upward.
Now you catch the falling square with your empty hand.
Continue with this sequence for a few seconds, then try some variations or even
add a fourth square to the mix.
It is fairly easy to keep the squares jumping and to catch them because the
squares float a little. You don't have to be as polished or nimble as the
experienced jugglers who use balls, clubs and even axes.
Keep your routine short until you have worked out some variations that make it
more entertaining for your audience.
A short routine like this needs a surprise finish. One that works well is to have
another square with a small high-bounce ball sewn into it. Make sure that this
square matches the color of at least one of the regular squares you use in your
routine.
To finish, gather the squares together in one hand, then pick out the one with the
ball with your other hand and wipe your forehead with it. "Accidentally" drop
the square and your audience will be surprised to see the square fall, but then
bounce back up so that you can catch it!

Magical Cut
Effect: Begin the trick by what I call riffling the deck. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, see below.) Tell the spectator to say stop. Where you stop you cut the deck. The card on top of the bottom pile is the spectator's card. Tell the spectator to look at the card and put it back where it was. You put the top half of the deck back on top of their card. Now you lay the cards face up so you can see them all. You pick a card and that is the spectator's.
Card Trick: The trick is really simple. It makes some people laugh at how simple it is. (Editor's note: but DON'T tell them!). All you do is this: while they look at their card, turn the top pile you cut over so that you can see the face of that card. Then you'll know that the card you're looking for is right next to it. It is always best to do this innocently so the spectator doesn't suspect anything. You don't have to lay the cards face up - it is good to customize this effect for yourself. I recommend you pretend to get it wrong the first time, to fool the spectator.
Riffling the deck: Hold the deck in your left hand, in the normal position for dealing. Place your right ring, middle, and index finger on the edge of the cards that is facing outward. Place your right thumb on the middle of the top card. With your right fingers, starting at the bottom of the deck quickly brush your fingers up. Go

Nice and Easy
Shuffle deck. Let someone choose any card, memorise it and place on TOP of deck. Behind your back, flip THAT first card over and bring out the whole deck. Hold deck upright, so they see bottom card - don't let them see theirs. With the bottom of the deck showing, ask if that's their card, to which they say no. At the same time you can see what THEIR card is, because you've flipped it over and it's now facing you! Put deck behind your back (be careful they don't see.) Flip their card over again and put it anywhere in deck. Bring out the deck, shuffle it or get them to shuffle, and now you can find their card!
Mirror Image
First of all: set up the pack by alternating red, black, red, black through the whole pack. Do this before your audience arrives. Now you are ready to start.
1. Tell a spectator to cut the pack as many times as they want.
2. Have them riffle shuffle it, but once only.
3. You cut the pack between two cards of the same colour.
4. Turn over the top card. If it is red, deal it to your left, face up. If it is black deal it to your right, face up.
5. Deal the next card face down underneath it. Repeat step 4, then this step (5) until the pack is gone.
6. The piles you have are mirror images. The cards underneath the red face up pile are black, and the cards underneath the black face up pile are red. Reveal this to everyone.
7. Take your well deserved bow.

Mind Reader
This card trick is very easy but it fools alot of people.
1. Shuffle the deck or get the spectator to shuffle it.
2. Take the card on top of the deck and look at it, without letting the spectator see it, and place it, face-down, in front of him.
3. Ask the spectator to pick a color: red or black.
4. (example: if the card was the Three of Hearts, a RED card.) If the spectator says black, then you say: "Well, that leaves red." If he says red, you say: "Good Choice"
5. Now you ask: "Which suit do you like better, Hearts or Diamonds?" (Remember, the card you looked at is RED.)
6. If the spectator says Hearts, you say: "Good choice." If he says Diamonds, you say: "That just leaves Hearts." Either way, you then say: "Pick five cards in that suit you like the best."
7. If the five cards he picks don't contain your card, say "Okay, now from the remaining cards pick five cards you like the best."
8. If these five cards still don't contain your card, say: "That just leaves three cards." Name the three remaining cards.
9. On the first or second try, five cards will have been selected. On the third try, only three cards. Ask him: "Out of the five (or three) cards which, two do you like the best"
10. (example: out of the five cards 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 he picks the 5 and 6.) You say: "That leaves the 2, 3, and 4."
11. Now you ask him which he likes out of those three. If he says the Three of Hearts, you turn over the card and amaze him!
12.If he does not pick the card, you ask him out of the remaining two, which one he likes the best. If he still doesn't pick it, you say, while turning over the card: "Well that just leaves the Three of Hearts," and you amaze him!
The trick seems simple, and you think any one will get it. They don't. Try it on a friend. The trick is this: the spectator gets so caught up in picking everything, he doesn't realize that you are making the choices, so he thinks he picked the card. It amazes him! Go
